Configuring Windows Mail for URI Webmail
1. Open Windows Mail.
2. Select Tools and then click on Accounts.
3. This brings up the “Internet Accounts” pop-up window. Click on “Add…”
4. Another window will pop up, asking for account type. Click on “E-mail Account”
5. Click “Next”
6. Enter desired display name, then click on ”Next”.
7. Enter your e-mail address (This would be your ecampususername@mail.uri.edu or etalacct@etal.uri.edu, not your alias).
- Servers include: mail.uri.edu and etal.uri.edu
8. Set as POP3 or IMAP.
9. For the incoming server, enter mail.uri.edu or etal.uri.edu depending on your e-mail address. Next button.
- For mail.uri.edu users, the outgoing server will be smtpserv.uri.edu
- For etal.uri.edu users, the outgoing server will be etal.uri.edu
10. Check the box “Outgoing server requires authentication".
11. Enter your ID and password for your particular e-mail address.
All Folders should be downloaded to the client unless the box “Do not download folders at this time…” was checked.
Accessing “Receive / Send” Settings
1. Go into “Tools”
2. Select ”Options…”
3. Under the ”General” tab, under “Send / Receive Messages”, check the box that says Check for new messages every…minutes(s)” and enter the desired number of minutes.
4. Click “Apply”
5. Click ”OK”.

Configuring URI Webmail through Verizon
Verizon requires their customers to authenticate through their server every time they send an email. The following settings should resolve any issues:
1. Go to Tools.
2. Select "Accounts..."
3. The "Internet Accounts" window should appear. Select the desired account and click the "Properties" button.
4. Select the "Servers" tab.
5. Under "Outgoing Mail Server", check the "My server requires authentication" box. Click on the "Settings" button.
6. The "Outgoing Mail Server" window should appear, select the option "Use same settings as my incoming mail server".
7. Select "OK", then click "Apply"
