Ruckus Free Music Download

The University of Rhode Island currently offers a free, legal alternative to download music. See www.uri.edu/ruckus/ for more information.

Wired

Although some P2P applications can be used on the wired network, the University of Rhode Island urges students to take advantage of our free music service, Ruckus. This service provides comparable quality to P2P applications and is 100% legal.

Wireless

P2P applications require a large amount of network resources and interfere with instant messaging. Users who operate P2P software on wireless networks will be blocked for fifteen minutes. During this time, users should quit and uninstall these applications to meet wireless minimum security requirements. After fifteen minutes, users who have not met minimum security requirements will continue to be blocked.
