iPhone 3G

1. On the main screen, select the Settings panel, then choose Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
2. Add an IMAP or POP account with the name, email address, and description.
3. Under Host Name, enter mail.uri.edu, and a username and password.
4. Set the outgoing server to smtpserv.uri.edu.
5. Under Advanced, turn SSL off.*

* By default, the port should be set to 143.

Blackberry

Registration

1. Go to the Blackberry website and select your wireless carrier from the list at the bottom of the page.
2. Select "Create New Account." Check the box next to "I have read and understand the Legal Terms and Conditions" and click "I agree."
3. To create your account, you will need to provide the PIN and some other information from your phone, depending on the carrier. This information is available:

  • In the Blackberry options or settings under status,
  • On the box that the Blackberry was packaged in,
  • Or underneath the Blackberry's battery.

4. Create a username and password.

Setup

1. You will now be able to add e-mail accounts. Add the address of your account and the password.

 You will also be asked for the mail server, which is either mail.uri.edu, etal.uri.edu, or postoffice.uri.edu

2. Click next, and then click OK. You will be able to send e-mail messages immediately, but it will take about 20 minutes for you to be able to receive messages.
