How to Request Equipment
Requesting Equipment can be done by:
- Visiting CMA's main office in the Lower Level of the Library in LL4 (the Computer Lab) and filling out an Equipment Reservation Sheet.
OR
- By logging into our Reservation system on-line
To access the Reservation system, please use your URI mail.uri.edu Username and Password.

The following are notes about the service level agreement regarding request of equipment:
- Equipment Reservation Requests will be processed in the order they are received. Equipment loans are SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY.
- If the requester has never used the requested equipment, they should book a Training one business day in advance of equipment request.
- CMA requires a minimum 24-hour lead-time for reservation requests to guarantee our advertised 15-minute pick up. Exceptions include any time when the instructor requires training or assistance, or during peak business periods (such as the beginning of the semester when the CMA Center may be deluged with requests for training).
- If reservation is made in person at the Lower Level of the Library in LL4 (the Computer Lab) using the Equipment Reservation paper form, the request can be accommodated within a half-hour , if the requester has recently been trained on the requested equipment and the equipment is available.
Film Studies Equipment Requests
The following is a list of policies regarding the request of FILM Studies media equipment:
- Media equipment can be requested for three days, including cameras, tripod, wireless microphones and lights.
- Film Studies limits pick-ups of equipment to Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Please make your reservation accordingly.

The following is a list of Film Studies Equipment Policies and Procedures regarding the pick up of equipment:
- Video Equipment is available for URI students working on Film Studies curricula-required projects.
- Individuals must be authorized to take out the equipment by their instructors.
- Individuals must have completed the appropriate in-course workshop in their Film Studies course for the requested equipment.
- When "picking up" Equipment individuals must show a valid URI student identification card.
- A reasonable attempt will be made to immediately confirm reservation requests, however, students are responsible for obtaining a confirmation for your Equipment Reservation Requests.
- Equipment Reservation Requests will be processed in the order they are received. Equipment loans are subject to availability and course restrictions .
- It is the user's responsibility to inspect the condition of your equipment loan before leaving LL4. If the users find equipment damaged or missing parts, they must notify CMA staff before they leave with the gear. Students are responsible for equipment they have borrowed. The Film Studies Department requires that students pay for any repair or replacement costs arising from loss or damage to equipment that he/she has borrowed.
- Film Studies Imposed Penalties: $25 for each day equipment is overdue . After 30 days a student will be charged replacement costs for the loaned equipment. in addition to any late fees.
- Facility and equipment privileges will be suspended until satisfactory arrangements are made for payment of all fines and charges.
