What is Root?
The root, or Super User, is capable of carrying out commands without authentication. Root users have absolute control of the machine and applications. This user is on a level above the Administrator level, which is above regular/restricted users. Enabling the root user should only be done by users with advanced knowledge as this action may create security holes and other potentially unwanted changes to the operating system.
