Access

Card Swipe

Important Notes: Card Activation This auditorium is accessed with a card swipe lock. Before you can enter, you must have your URI ID card authorized for access to this room.

Test your card at least 1 business day prior to your first class meeting. If your card does not work, contact Facilities Services Access Control Office at 874- 4577, or e-mail at access@etal.uri.edu.

Media Equipment

Chafee 277 has the following equipment installed:

  • Installed LCD Projector
  • Media Rack
  • Lecture Podium
  • DVD, VCR Player
  • Wireless Microphone
  • Wired/Wireless Internet Access

  • Light Switches

Control lighting for the auditorium. The panel on the right controls various lights for the stage area, while the switch and dimmer knob on the other panel control the power and intensity of the room lights.


  • Installed LCD Projector

The LCD Projector screen is rear-projection, meaning the projector is behind the screen and displays the image through the screen. The center screen is used for installed LCD projection.

Wireless Microphone

Reserve the microphone from the Classroom Media Assistance Office in Chafee 217.

Wireless Microphone

The wireless lapel microphone is pre-set in the sound system. To activate, first slide the protective cover off the display, and press the red Power button (small circle). Close cover. Then the Mute switch (large circle) must be moved to the Off position. DO NOT TOUCH THE CHANNEL BUTTONS.

Microphone Options

When done, first move the Mute switch (large circle) to the On position. Then slide the protective cover off the display, and press the red Power button (small circle) to power Off the microphone. Close cover. Return the microphone to CMA Office in Chafee 217.

Wired/Wireless Internet Access

Allows you to connect your laptop to the URI network while giving your presentation. The red dot indicates an active port.

Locking Up Procedures

  • 1. Manually power Off each Media Rack playback device and remove tape or disc.
  • 2. Press "Power Video Projector OFF" on the AMX Controller at the podium.
  • 3. Power Off your laptop. Remove the ethernet and VGA cables.
  • 4. Power OFF microphone and return it to CMA Office in Chafee 217.
  • 5. Lock the media rack.
  • 6. Turn the classroom lights OFF. Shut all Exit Doors.
  • 7. Swipe-lock the main door using your URI ID card. The card-reader light will blink green when in locked mode.

Security

Ask students waiting for the next class to remain outside the classroom until their instructor arrives. You as Instructor are responsible for the room's security during your class time, so please lock up!
