Card Swipe

Important Notes: Card Activation This auditorium is accessed with a card swipe lock. Before you can enter, you must have your URI ID card authorized for access to this room.

Test your card at least 1 business day prior to your first class meeting. If your card does not work, contact Facilities Services Access Control Office at 874- 4577, or e-mail at access@etal.uri.edu.

Room Alarm Code Required

The alarm pad inside Chafee 244 must be disarmed and re-armed. The audible alarm also rings at the URI Campus Police station.

Contact Classroom Media Assistance in Chafee 217 for code and instructions, x 4-4278.

This room is reserved through Enrollment Services, x 4-2817. The installed media equipment is reserved through Classroom Media Assistance, x 4-4278. CMA is located in the lower level of the library, LL4.

Located on the wall to your left as you enter.


  • Projector Screen Switch
Screen Switch

This switch raises and lowers the projection screen. The screen has three positions: Up, retracts; down, lowers; middle, stops movement.


  • Media Rack
Media Rack

A key lock secures the media equipment rack.

The key is assigned after media equipment orientation.

Equipment orientation and reservation must be made on the Equipment Reservation web form. CMA Office is in the lower level of the library, LL4, at 874-4278

  • Installed LCD Projector
LCD Projector

The projector hangs stationary from the ceiling in front of the projector screen. Its video feed and power switch is controlled by the Extron Switcher (see "Turning Projector On/Off" and "Switching Inputs"). Do not operate manually.


  • Power Outlet

Outlets are located around the room.

  • Ethernet Port
Ethernet

Connects your laptop to the URI internet. Active port is marked by a red dot.

NOTE: The Display Power ON and warm-up cycle time for the projector is 2 minutes. Any attempt to power OFF within this time period will crash the system. The warm-up time is done when the green light on the projector is no longer blinking. The projector can be re-powered ON- if needed again- after the 2-minute cool-down cycle.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not try to Power On/Off the projector prior to the 2-minute warm-up and/or cool down cycle.

WHEN DONE: Press the green Display Power button for 2 seconds. The Power Display button will not be lit. The last media source button used will remain lit.

3.DVD - Video signal is routed to the projector. To control the DVD, use the buttons on the face of the DVD player or the DVD remote control stored in the Media Rack (5) Drawer. Manually power On/Off. Volume Control knob is on right side of the Extron Switcher panel. 4. VCR - VHS Video signal is routed to the projector. To control the VCR, use the buttons on the face of the VCR player, or the VCR remote control stored in the Media Rack (5) Drawer. Manually power On/Off. Volume Control knob is on right side of the Extron Switcher panel. 5.Cassette - Audio signal from the Cassette Player is routed to the sound system. To control the cassette, use the buttons on the face of the player. Projector need not be on to operate. Manually power On/Off. Volume Control knob is on right side of the Extron Switcher panel. 6. Document Camera - Video signal is transmitted through the VGA cable marked # 6 stored in the media rack. Use Input 6 located on the side of Media Rack to connect the document camera to the Extron Switcher.

Document Camera is not stored in the auditorium. It must be reserved on the CMA Equipment Request web form, picked up and returned after use.

Note: There is no audio included with this input.

7. Video - These inputs connect alternative video sources (e.g. Video Camera, etc.).

Security

Ask students waiting for the next class to remain outside the classroom until their instructor arrives. You as Instructor are responsible for the room's security during your class time, so please lock up!
