Arri Lighting Kit

The ARRI lighting kit is a compact professional lighting kit that can be used in location work or lightweight studio situations. The kit comes with four lights: two 650 Watt Fresnels, one 300 Watt Fresnel, and one 1000 Watt Flood. Also included are four light stands, safety gloves and an extension cord.

Precautions

  • Never touch the light bulb with your bare hands. The grease from your skin could cause the light to explode when it heats up.
  • When the lights are in use the casing gets extremely hot. Please use the included safety gloves when adjusting the lights to avoid burning yourself.
  • Be mindful of where you put the light. If it is near something that is flammable the heat from the light could burn its surroundings.
  • These lights draw a lot of power. If they are all on the same circuit in a home they could trip the circuit breaker.
  • Do not over-tighten the knobs on the lights and the light stands. This will make it harder to adjust them on the fly and could damage the hardware.

650 Watt Fresnel

650 Watt Fresnel

This light uses the Fresnel glass piece to achieve directional light for much better light control. They can be used as spotlights, key lights, back lights and fill lights (though you may want to use it in conjunction with a Chimera or other form of diffusion for softer lighting needs).

Specifications

  • Type of Lamphead: Fresnel
  • Power: 650 W
  • Supply Voltage: 230 V
  • Correlated Color Temperature: 3200 K
  • Lens Diameter: 112 mm
  • Filter Insertion Size: 168 mm
  • Weight: 3.6 kg

300 Watt Fresnel

300 Watt Fresnel

This light uses the Fresnel glass piece to achieve directional light for much better light control. This smaller light has many applications. It can be used at a fill light, rim light or backlight when using the larger lights as the keys.

Specifications

  • Type of Lamphead: Fresnel
  • Power: 300 W
  • Supply Voltage: 230 V
  • Correlated Color Temperature: 3200 K
  • Lens Diameter: 80 mm
  • Filter Insertion Size: 130 mm
  • Weight: 2.9 kg

Using the 650 and the 300 fresnels

  • To mount on a light stand: Unlock the legs of the light stand by twisting the knob nearest to the top of the legs. Fold out the legs of the light stand and lock them into place by retightening the knob. Twist the knob on the base of the light to open up the connector on the bottom. Insert the base of the light onto the piece on the top of the light stand and tighten the knob to secure the light in place.
  • To insert barndoors and scrims: Lift up the spring-loaded latch on the top of the light and slide in barndoors or scrims into the front loader. When you have finished, lock the add-ons in place by twisting the spring-loaded latch back to its previous position. You can store the lights with the barndoors attached by folding in all of the flaps when you put it away.
  • Turning on the light: Plug the light into a three-pronged outlet. Before turning on the light make sure that no one is looking directly at the light. After doing this flip the switch (located on the power cord) and the light should turn on.
  • Adjusting between spot and flood: the knob on the back of the light can be turned clockwise for spot and counter-clockwise for flood. This physically moves the bulb back and forth inside the light so be very careful when adjusting this to be sure not to damage the fragile mechanism.

1000 Watt MiniFlood

1000 Watt MiniFlood

This is a lightweight flood light that uses the horizontally aligned flood blub for even fill light. This light is best used in situations where you need to fill a large area with even light (such as outdoor/large indoor lighting or fill lighting). This light puts out more light than the other lights in this kit so it might also work to use it as your key light. However the light will not be as directional and thus not as easy to shape.

Specifications

  • Power: 1000 W
  • Supply Voltage: 230 V
  • Correlated Color Temperature: 3200 K
  • Weight: 2.7 kg

Using the 1000 Watt MiniFlood

  • To mount on a light stand: Unlock the legs of the light stand by twisting the knob nearest to the top of the legs. Fold out the legs of the light stand and lock them into place by retightening the knob. Twist the knob on the base of the light to open up the connector on the bottom. Insert the base of the light onto the piece on the top of the light stand and tighten the knob to secure the light in place.
  • To shape the light: Adjust the barndoors on the front of the light. You can fold the doors inward towards the light for safer storage.
  • Turning on the light: Plug the light into a three-pronged outlet. Before turning on the light make sure that no one is looking directly at the light. After doing this flip the switch (located on the power cord) and the light should turn on.
